Business critical supply chain information

April 4th, 2007 ScottWalters No comments

One of the important aspects of ecommerce is the ability to optimise the supply chain efficiency. In this press release Kewill Solutions are announcing a forms package that will enable approximately 300 small to medium suppliers to effectively participate in ebusiness supply chain transactions across the web.

I was unable to find information on why this package was developed, ie whether in response to competition or legislative requirements in europe or simply to improve operational efficiency.

Entrepreneur cuts TV middle men

This article discusses how Kogan Direct (a small startup) uses an eBay store to build a business that reports turnover of $250,000 per month with plans to now expand to the US and UK according to Timson (2007).

Kogan Direct is a typical implementation of disintermediation where middlemen are eliminated from the sales process. A view of the Kogan Direct website shows that Kogan claim to eliminate agent, importer, wholesaler and retailer through direct access to the manufacturer.
